Reviews: the guest must remain anonymous?

Reputation , Reviews , fake reviews ... these are hot topics in the hotel industry and tourism in general. Also at the Buy Tourism Online 2010 in Florence, the theme was taken up during a panel discussion with TripAdvisor, trivago, Directory, and ReviewPro Zoover .

I was hoping for a substantively different approach. However, it went to a few minutes already discussed the question of whether the user of a hotel review page not reveal his identity must in to rate a hotel or other tourist services may not.

the hoteliers there were customers will make the bad reviews. None of the present Hotel review sites forces the customer's identity released. This remains an option of the user if he would like to register, for example with Facebook Connect or with his Google profile.

see the hoteliers of course different, because they want to defend their reputation with court orders against bad reviews and ungrateful guests. Apart from the fact that they consider any potentially bad rating as a fake.

booking sites like Expedia or Booking.com, their own Guest Reviews collect and publish this demand of the hotels are not affected. Vote you can only if you have booked. The fact that the hoteliers to create mass false accounting to be able to vote themselves, which they do not know. In the same mass and hotel review sites of false assessments are affected by the hoteliers. On TripAdvisor, it even goes so far that offer software applications specifically Houses to mass-publish positive reviews for the hotel.

The moral of the story: Hotels only cause damage to themselves.

reputation is not only a question of evaluation . Word of Mouth or German word of mouth is the name of the conversation, speaking in an experience with a product is. It is not just about advertising or recommendations by a customer to a friend. This can all take place as a small talk, when we as telling his last vacation. With today's variety of social media, many of these conversations happen on the Web, where sure the guys from Mountain View (Google), that they are found by the person who seeks them out.

Can we stop the Word of Mouth?
Hardly. And so it is in my opinion a waste of time to deal with the issue of anonymity in Reviews . Much more, I expect that more and more hoteliers, but also destinations to deal constructively with ratings. They see this as an opportunity to improve the quality of their work and exploit the potential of the Word of Mouth for customer retention and promotion.

In it went to my workshop on Online Reputation Management in a sold out room during the BTO 2010th But it's more in my next post for Social Media for Business .

If you want to look at the panel discussion (in English), here the record (from about 3:05:00)

How Does Scorpio Man Flirts

business travel - even at TTW Montreux 2010 in an issue

Time flies way too fast. Already is the TTW Montreux 2010 again History and the daily business takes command. As usual, remains almost no time for a clean and professional post-processing of the event. I will try it anyway J .

travel brain talking to travel agents and service providers

After his performance at the 5th Swiss Travel Management Forum on 9 September and to make the task of the social media part with a keynote presentation and a discussion board, I've been asked, as part of the Business Travel Congress at TTW participate in a panel. On the subject of "TMC and SMEs: the same division - unequal opportunities" I was under the direction of beat Eichenberger, editor in chief travel managers, with

· ; Stefan Haas, Head of Customer SBB
· Lena Knaus , Sales Manager, Air France / KLM / Delta
· Martin Rechsteiner , managing tourism Müllener
and
· ; Walter Ruggli , Country Manager, Carlson Wagonlit Switzerland

cross swords.

My
The object was in this round of talks on the role of corporate customers and their needs to the service providers to introduce. Contrary to expectations, was the discussion relaxed and "attacks" against the performers were completely made especially by the SME travel agents. We have then discussed more general information about the current situation, issues and "problems" between industry and service providers. For example, why the SBB their online business tool does not open for travel agencies or what to expect in the future of the service providers on Direct Link / Direct Access. Where we were able to stage that SMEs and globally operating customers expect from your travel agents and TMCs in the future "Full Content". And thus ensure access to all available airline fares and additional services. Whether this is in the interests of airlines, Lena Knaus was not a clear answer. In the final round would beat Eichenberger participants know about us, where we see the challenges of the next 5 years in the business travel sector. In my view, these are the following:

first Mobile and Social Media
second Smart solutions to the complexity of the "unbundling" to keep under control
third Direct Connect / Direct Access vs. GDS and what we can expect from ONE Amadeus, Sabre and Travelport Red Universal Desktop
4th eliminated holding and / or increasing the quality of advice as simple bookings are
5th Corporate Social Responsibility with Travel Tracking, carbon footprint etc.

The reception afterward

During the subsequent drink I had the opportunity for some very good and informative discussions with representatives of the various TMCs and some service providers. In this case, especially the issues of "Mobile & Social Media" and the "Unbundiling" taken up again and have been controversial. In addition, of course, the legitimate question is whether we should have, despite statements maybe something more exciting by discussing the topic. Is actually - the TMC / SME debate did not come to work properly. Nevertheless, it was fun at the Business Travel Congress to participate actively.

lunch at Kuoni Village

So on to the next item on the program: Lunch at Kuoni Village Florian Wieser of coUNDco , friend and fellow at the Travel Management Forum in September in Zurich. He had the audience with his talk show " Mobile & Social Media Trends for Business Travel " where the road goes. And hey presto further inquiries came from the industry. One of them - a "debate" at TTW about "social media in journalism . When pasta and Ghackets "shortly discussed the morning's performances, a former staff member welcomes shake (great use in the service for Kuoni), other hand, enjoyed a glass of red wine and already back in the congress hall.

IT Congress to break the GDS business

with a presentation of Traveltainment boss Andy Owen-Jones IT Congress has begun. In an exciting and rousing speech he packed his key statements:

· the Swiss market with its "still" high margins is a very interesting playground for foreign operators and the limits fall
· ; the new players on the market have incredibly good knowledge of the Internet, Mobile and Google in particular - and this lack of knowledge most local operators (Organizer & Travel agencies)
· and - who is in the next 9 - 12 months creates not to find the connection is, this battle customers can not survive without prejudice

then stood on the stage over under the direction of Chris Probst of Travel Inside the GDS-chief. Cornel Küng (Amadeus), Anne Rösener (Sabre) and the newly responsible for Travelport Switzerland Jürgen Witte discussed the current challenges to the GDSs (including unbundling / Direct Access) and the importance of content. Unfortunately there was no information on the new desktop products, which are rolled out by all providers in parts of the world. Almost as a "savior" and "egg-laying Wollmilchsäue" Amadeus is One, Travelport and Sabre Red Universal Desktop promoted in USA and Australia. More then in a later post.

visit to the exhibition halls

the aperitif after the congress, I had to omit to say a brief to visiting exhibitors in the halls and to take some short pre-arranged appointments. I have noticed is that were already relatively empty after 14:30 the corridors and by and by even items were partially degraded. Nevertheless, there were still all good discussions on the stands of Travel Job Market , Elvia / Mondial , Online Travel , Travelport and Amadeus and some brief chat between.

conclusion of my visit at TTW

then at 16:30 h Departure from Montreux back home. And once more the knowledge that one day for me is simply not enough to bring out the maximum from the event. With the new concept that I think the way well done, I spent more time in the conference area and it is missing, of course, for the talks with the exhibitors. This is probably for the majority of other visitors. That is, during the presentations, people are missing in the halls.

I'm curious how they developed the theme TTW Montreux in the coming weeks and months and am looking forward to next year.

Optimist Sailboat Sell

Why PR agencies and should cooperate in marketing with bloggers

Fresh from Copenhagen back with an exciting theme for my column Social Media for Business : why should cooperate with PR agencies and marketing department with Travel Blogger? have

The answer to this question myself on the occasion of Travel Blog Exchange been some bloggers (and PR professionals) from the U.S.. Thus, this work goes even so far as to participate in the study tours that not even more travel agents, but only travel bloggers.

Johnny E. Di Scala aka Johnny Jet , one of the first and now most popular travel bloggers of the United States , with over 200 press trips the living example. And under Press Trips sees itself as the travel with the Pope to Israel!

Another example brought Ella Marshall and her work as a blogger for Finnair . She travels with Finnair to the world and wrote about the flight, the food on board, the airports, on which she sleeps in hotels and about the destination itself satisfied with the motto Rethink Quality them as readers and potential customers that Finnair is not just any airline, but a company that with heart in the matter is . Not important?

Take just purely hypothetical, it's that you could fly from Zurich to the same price to your destination with the Swiss or with Swissair. Which airline would you choose?

were fascinating differences between the present, Europeans and Americans. A PR professional from Austria raised the objection that it was difficult to persuade European consumers to invite bloggers to a press trip instead of journalists. May it recommended Lilley (International Public Relations Coordinator at Vail Resorts ) make the decision solely in terms of the objective: to reporters, the result is published in Articles from one to two, with blogger for 30-40 articles. Sun May:
I can not imagine that your clients have any objection to the press kit consists of 40 instead of 2 pages.
Whether this rate of return possible in Europe, I would leave open for now. I have found that there are differences among EU countries, which could significantly affect the results. For example, in Italy there are nearly 40,000 travel blogs. In Germany, the travel section in the blog directory listed does not arise. (Source: Wikio.it / Wikio.de)

And what criteria are looking for PR agencies from the bloggers? This question would have a separate discussion deserve! Visitor numbers are in my opinion not conclusive enough. Representative would be because the Trust (Trust) and Popularity (awareness) of a blogger or blog in its Web community. Twitter account for these and other values are measured. Here is an example .

If this development will keep venues throughout Europe, will create the travel office employees have either a blog or they are not even allowed to participate in study tours.

What do you think of this?
